The endlessly imaginative and energetically physical dance company Momix returns to Hancher to present Opus Cactus—a much-loved work grounded in the teeming life and landscape of the American southwest.

Nachte Raho

Nachte Raho has been a thriving cultural program at the University of Iowa.  The tremendous success of our show over the past few years, has quickly made us one of the biggest intercollegiate dance competition in the Midwest. Our competition will feature the dance style of Bollywood Fusion. Traditionally, eight teams are chosen among a range of applicants to compete in Iowa City. For the competition, each team prepares an eight to ten minute dance routine to compete for $3,000.

Iowa City West High School Show Choir Winter Swing Show

The Winter Swing Show is an opportunity for the public to take in the 2017-18 Iowa City West High School Show Choir Competition Shows before they begin their season in January. The concert will consist of West High's varsity show choir, The Good Time Company,  as well as West High's mixed prep group, Showtime. The show will also feature individual student acts as well as West's contemporary a cappella ensemble, Vox Novus.

Dance Gala 2017

Dance Gala 2017 celebrates its return to Hancher with compelling new dances from the University of Iowa’s highly acclaimed Department of Dance. Experience the humor and delight of choreography by award-winning artist Monica Bill Barnes in the premiere of an original work created for Dance Gala, and witness the power and grace of dances created by internationally renowned UI Dance faculty.

Camille A. Brown & Dancers

Camille A. Brown's new work, ink, seeks to reclaim African American narratives and culture from appropriation and silence. The third work in a trilogy about identity, ink is an amalgamation of African dance, African American social dance, tap, jazz, modern, and hip-hop.

Nutcracker Gala Reception

Join us for a special gala reception following the Saturday night performance of The Nutcracker!

Your gala ticket is your invitation to spend the evening with the Joffrey dancers, many of the children (now all grown up!) who danced in previous productions of The Nutcracker on the Hancher stage, and other dance fans.
