Join trumpeter, santur player, vocalist, and composer, Amir ElSaffar, for an interactive, family-friendly music workshop. ElSaffar, who regularly blends Arabic music and western jazz, will speak about Arabic musical traditions, play samples of Arabic and western music to draw comparisons between the two, and lead the group in a music-making workshop that draws from both traditions.

If you've seen any of Spike Lee's movies, you'll probably recognize the music of Terence Blanchard. You can hear his trademark trumpet on nearly 50 film scores, from Barbershop to Malcolm X. Blanchard will be in conversation with Dr.

The Fourth Light Project is a multimedia experience, combining live music and sacred dance (a dervish) with advanced projection techniques that respond to sound and music in real time. Musicians Azam Ali and Loga Ramin Torkian and their collaborators, including acclaimed visual artist Jérôme Delapierre, will speak about how technology informs and enhances their artistic practice.
This event is free and open to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch.
