Hancher Auditorium will move into a gleaming new facility along the Iowa River in 2016, marking the end of a nomadic eight-year chapter for the University of Iowa's performing arts organization. Before then, however, it will stage one last season while living out of its suitcase, doing what it does best, say its leaders: connecting world-class performers with Iowans.

In a meeting room on the third floor of Seashore Hall, which has served as a not-so-temporary office for Hancher's administrative staff during these post-flood years, there's a wall lined with calendar pages. For Chuck Swanson and his team, the wall serves as the blueprint for the historic transition between now and September 2016, when the new Hancher Auditorium, after the better part of a decade of planning and construction, at last raises its curtain.

The season may be a bit shorter than usual, but the artists are just as amazing as always. And a new facility is on the horizon. The University of Iowa’s Hancher has announced its lineup of performances for the 2015-2016 season. Hancher donors will soon receive a season brochure that will allow them to purchase tickets via the included order form. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Aug. 24.

Inti-Illimani will perform Friday night on the Pedestrian Mall Fountain Stage, located outside the Sheraton Hotel. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m., although people typically begin setting up lawn chairs around 6 p.m. Inti-Illimani is a Latin American music ensemble that focuses on indie and folk music, with baroque influences.
