Alan page became the first African American on the court and one of the few associate justices to ever join the court initially through election, rather than appointment by governor. In 2018, Alan Page was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Chris is a former lead FBI negotiator and dynamic speaker who debunks the biggest myths of negotiation. Chris engages all groups with captivating stories, insights, useful tips for business and everyday life, and interactive audience participation. Chris has lectured on negotiation at business schools across the country and has been seen on ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and Forbes. Chris’s keynotes are based on his book, Never Split The Difference.

2022 Presidential Lecture

The 2022 Presidential Lecture will be a signature event in the University of Iowa's 175th anniversary, showcasing the UI's excellence in discovery and learning and bringing the knowledge of the our highest-achieving faculty to the campus and community. To commemorate this institutional milestone, three distinguished scholars from areas of special renown at the UI will each speak, followed by a moderated discussion. There will be a public reception immediately following.
