West Middle School students are contributing their artistic talents — as well as their visages — to the University of Iowa's new Hancher Auditorium. A piece created by seventh graders from seven communities across Iowa will be on permanent display in the new Hancher, expected to be completed in the fall of 2016.

On Thursday, April 30, seventh graders from Algona Middle School had a chance to begin contributions to artwork to be hung in the newly constructed Hancher Auditorium at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Algona was one of seven communities from across the state chosen to contribute to this art project. The other six communities are Storm Lake, Spencer, Iowa City, Maquoketa, Council Bluffs and Muscatine.

Lewis Central Middle School's seventh-grade artists are being invited to contribute to a work of art to dedicate one of the flood-recovered crown jewels of the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City.
