The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts)
Presented by University of Iowa School of Music
Presented by the University of Iowa School of Music
Three of history’s greatest composers come back for a chat about music and more.
The Classical Style follows Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn as they return to earth to discover the current music scene. Full of inside jokes about music theory and musicology, the zany one act opera will be presented in an intimate black box setting. The University of Iowa students in the cast will have an opportunity to meet and work with librettist and winner of a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship Jeremy Denk—who performs at Hancher on October 24—during the production process.
Music by Steven Stuckey
Libretto by Jeremy Denk
Directed by Abbigail Coté
Conducted by Kenny Lee
Tickets will go on sale on Monday, August 18 at 10:00 a.m. from the Hancher Box Office
