Part of Hancher Up Close

Part of Hancher's 53rd season

A perfect match of a genius musician and ingenious music.

A virtuoso of the first order, Jeremy Denk will perform a selection of Bach’s Partitas—works known for being as complex and challenging as they are gorgeous. Denk has won the Avery Fisher Prize, been named a MacArthur “Genius,” and is the author of the bestselling memoir Every Good Boy Does Fine. Enjoy this masterful musician in an intimate setting on Hancher’s Hadley Stage.

Denk will also be in residence and work with UI students who will perform his work The Classical Style as the School of Music’s fall opera.

"An unerring sense of the music’s dramatic structure and a great actor’s intuition for timing, Denk was the provocateur who urged his colleagues to dare all, to unleash every calorie of emotional heat." – The Boston Globe
