Wednesday–Saturday, October 18–21

Andrew Schneider black and white profile

N O W I S W H E N W E A R E (the stars) is a remarkable immersive performance installation by theater, video, and arts technologist Andrew Schneider. Drawing inspiration from visions of the Milky Way and Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms, this new work by Schneider pulls the viewer toward an introspective, awe-inspiring cosmos: You will walk through a room, secluded in darkness punctuated by 4,000 reactive points of light and 496-channel sound design. This is an experience in which we might lose ourselves in the grand expanse of our lives, country, and universe–all on the journey toward finding our deeper meaning. This work debuted at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in fall 2022. This will be its Iowa premiere.

Note: Recommended for ages 13+

There are two ways to experience the show:
Guided: a journey through the installation
Open Universe: a self-directed exploration of the installation
