Orchestra Baobab
Part of Club Hancher
Part of Hancher's 53rd season
A multi-generation Afro-Cuban band endlessly reinvigorating its sound.
Hailing from Senegal, Orchestra Baobab got its start as the house band of the Baobab Club in Dakar. That was 55 years ago, and the band’s Afro-Cuban sound is as fresh and captivating as ever. For one night only, Club Hancher becomes the Baobab Club, and the house band takes its rightful place on the stage. Don’t worry—we’ll leave plenty of space for dancing!
“Senegal's Orchestra Baobab is swaggering back onto international dance floors with its silk, sultry songs, layering Afro-Cuban sounds with local traditions and pop styles from across Senegal and elsewhere in West Africa.” – NPR
