Brooklyn Rider
Temples of Resonance: The String Quartets of Philip Glass
Presented in collaboration with the University of Iowa String Quartet Residency Program
A brilliant quartet brings spirit and swagger to the music of an essential American composer.
Brooklyn Rider rode into the universe of exceptional string quartets 20 years ago, bringing rock star energy to classical and contemporary music. Along the way, the quartet has built a long-standing relationship with Philip Glass—who is undeniably among America’s greatest living composers and who has made historic contributions to the string quartet repertoire. The quartet’s Temples of Resonance program features four of Glass’s sparkling works, including String Quartet No. 5, a work beloved for its surprising and exhilarating audaciousness.
“Brooklyn Rider is first and foremost a string quartet, and an excellent one at that, and its string quartet-ness neither defines nor limits its capacities. Ride on.” — Boston Globe
