Perhaps the most in-demand string quartet in the world today, the Danish String Quartet comes to Hancher Auditorium to perform an arresting mixed repertoire concert. “The Danish String Quartet stand out: not because they’re shinier or plusher or pushier than the rest,” raves The Guardian, “but because of their nimble charisma, stylish repertoire, and the way their light and grainy shading can turn on a dime.” The quartet was recently named the Musical America Ensemble of the Year.

First violinist Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen is also a member of Dreamers’ Circus, performing in Club Hancher on March 8.

Program (subject to change):
Bach: Contrapunctus XIV, from The Art of Fugue
Webern: String Quartet (1905)
Bach: Vor deinen Thron tret’ ich hiermit, BWV 668
Schnittke: String Quartet No. 3 (1983)
Beethoven: String Quartet and Great Fugue, Op. 130/133

Event Partners:
Richard Gloss and Hal Ide
George A. and Barbara J. Grilley
