Amer is a comedian whose humor is clear-eyed about challenges and transcends borders.

Mo Amer was born in Kuwait to Palestinian parents. When he was 9 years old, Amer, his mother, and two siblings fled Kuwait during the Gulf War and immigrated to the United States, settling in Houston, Texas. As a refugee, Amer waited 20 years to become a naturalized citizen and obtain a passport—a serious situation he has transformed into comedic material. His semi-autographical Netflix series Mo unpacks the hardship of refugee status with humor. So, too, does his incisive and hilarious stand-up comedy.

AUDIENCE ADVISORY: This performance will contain adult content, language, and themes.

Amer exudes a sense of authenticity…He reaches the heart and soul of anybody who listens to him or watches him or works with him.”
