A blur of mallets, talent, and ideas, Joel Ross brings positive vibes to the vibraphone.
At first, Joel Ross wasn’t sure about the vibraphone: he questioned if it was the best instrument for true expression. Fortunately for music lovers, he embraced the challenge of the vibes, with a two-mallet approach, bringing a thoughtful, meditative sound to his compositions. A student of Stefon Harris—with whom he is a Blue Note labelmate—Ross’s latest album Gospel Music calls on the cultural and sacred spirit of Chicago, his hometown.
